Supply and Property Management Office
The Supply and Property Management Office (SPMO) maintains and develops a sound supply and property management system for the university. It specifically deals with the planning, supervising, purchasing, receiving, issuing and store keeping and controlling the supplies of the university.
Maintains a continuous supply of supplies, materials and equipment needed in an organization’s normal operations, and supports its various activities in a manner that value-for-money is obtained.
Property management starts after the acquisition/procurement of government assets and is the custodianship of all UPOU properties. This includes the receipt of supplies, materials, semi-expendable items and equipment, the safekeeping and maintenance thereof and finally its issuance to the end user. Each activity is coupled with the corresponding responsibilities and accountability.
Involves the development and administration of policies, systems and procedures which minimizes total costs relative to inventory decisions and related functions. An effective inventory management system is dependent upon the development of efficient planning and control techniques. Availability, quality and timing of data ultimately determine the effectiveness of an inventory management, the control techniques employed and the structure of the inventory control reports.
